Carey Hart and his wife Alecia Beth Moore teach their kids to take risks because they would be hypocrites not to. Like most parents, the challenge they face introducing young children to motorcycles boils down to priorities and time.
The Hart/Moore’s have been grounded by Covid just like the rest of us in 2020, and while many motorcycle companies were frittering away our attention with renderings and promises of new product launches, Indian Motorcycle introduced its eFTR Jr, a shrunken and electrified version of the popular FTR1200 for kids like Carey and Alecia’s daughter Willow.
Last October my buddy Brian and I took the back roads down to Santa Maria to watch some flat track racing at the Stadium 805. Several friends of mine were racing that day, including Carey, Jordan Graham, A.J. Kirkpatrick, Leah Tokelove and Dimitri Coste.
As Brian and I made our way through the pits, I met young Willow. She was chillin’ out with Jordan’s girls. Carey was telling me how Willow was researching real estate for when she goes to college; the idea was to buy property versus renting. Smart kid.
Carey and his wife ride frequently. Now that Willow has tasted moto catnip there’s no turning back.
